"corba namespace in c++ vs java" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:17:50

HiI am having a problem with mapping a corba namespace between c++ and java. I am currently implementing a server with a legacy corba interface originally written in c++. The server has several clients written in c++ and the new server I am writing is in java. The legacy idl interface does not contain any modules all its interfaces are defined without a namespace except for some data types which are defined in a single modulee g data idl: module MyData {typedef sequence<string> strings;... }methods idl interface MyMethods {methodA(in My);methodB(); }And here the namespace problem begins since in java a module is equivalent to a package which dictates a directory structure. While in c++ a module is just a namepsace which does not dictate a directory structure at all. What is normal in java is of course to have such code in a separate package called ex: services corba. The problem of course is that all generated classes in java must then contain a "package services corba;" statement. Since the legacy idl does not contain that namespace there will be a mismatch. If I dont include the java required modules in the idl the generated stubs will not belong to a specific package. That is of course possible but then it will be stored in the root source dir instead. That would really just make the source code a mess when all other code is nicely packaged. Another question is how namespace is interpreted by Corba during execution of a call. Normally such a call engine should check that namespaces in a call match the servers namespace for it to succeed. But does it do so in Corba or is namespaces just a internal issue of the part i e client internal or server internal. Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?regardstom. .. >> .. if DwightSchmidlap and Henry both implemented the interface. ... >> The java interface allows me to specify constants in that interface. ... > Now I've used the namespace provided by interfaces for stuff even more... For example the factories why should I... (comp object)

"using MapViewer from PL/SQL vs Java" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-12 23:09:18

Hi assort! The MapViewer User's Guide has this to say about using MapViewer fromPL/SQL:"The usage copy for the SDO_MVCLIENT case is almost identical tothat ofMapViewer JavaBean-based API" etc etc.. "For usage and referenceinformation about specific functions or procedures see thedescription of the associated JavaBean-Based API methods andinterfaces in Chapter 4"If I don't construe the basic concept in a Java Web App (usingthe MapViewer Bean) you create a MapViewer object for each HTTP-user-session like so:MapViewer mv = new MapViewer("omserver");... which you would then store in the user's session disapprove so thatthe MapViewer hit conveniently holds the map's state on the user'sbehalf. To do the equivalent in PL/SQL the User's Guide suggests:"connect scott/tigercall sdo_mvclient createmapviewerclient('') ;The preceding example creates in the current session a uniqueMapViewer clienthandle to the MapViewer service URL"Does "current session" refer to the HTTP-user-session? While I've usedPL/SQL before. I've not used the PL/SQL Web Toolkit. Is the sessionhandling implicit here (and invisible?) or should the sdo_mvclient besubsequently stored in the PL/SQL equivalent of a (J2EE) HttpSessionobject?YT.

It looks fairly similar minus a handful of features (bright bring etc..). Here are the links to the 2 layouts:JAVA JTM45I'm hoping someone with a little more knowledge and back up me out thanks! The Java has a Master Volume. It looks like it may be a Post Phase Inverter since its a stacked pot. At first blush it looks more high gain as come up. Didn't really look too long but right off the bat the Java is NOT very JTM45-ish. . . WARNING:Amps undergo high voltages present even when unplugged and/or turned off. gratify be sure to read about amp safety before attempting any repairs new builds biasing or modifications.. "SUNW Vs. JAVA - Opensource goes mainstream" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:15:25

There has been a mixed reaction to the announcement by Jonathan Schwartz - CEO of Sun on the replacement of their ticker symbol from SUNW to JAVA. Most blogs and articles focused on why this was all about the move to Software business and away from the core hardware and systems business but I personally feel that there is a much bigger intent in compete here.  The intent is to create by mental act SUN eventually into a truly “end to end pure play Open Source tighten”. Again “the first” in a line of many steps that SUN has taken in the past. SPARC goes OpensourceOpenSolaris as an Opensource projectAdoption of the X86 architectureReleasing Java to developer community Where are they heading is anybody’s guess. Clearly todays SUN cannot delink itself from the hardware business as the revenues from its software business donot change surface go close to the hardware business. So the issue is survival and buying time. Jonathan is trying to move the dial every few quarters towards SUN fully becoming an change state obtain tighten fully realizing that the change cannot happen overnight. But when he is done SUN ordain have a comprehensive hardware and software lade which ordain be the most complete lineup of Opensource products in the marketplace. All of us accept that SUN has always been the earliest adopters of new technology trends and has in many ways pioneered some of the most innovative properties including SPARC. Solaris. JAVA and successfully commercialized and monetized them. I am a firm believer of the fact that the DNA of a firm never changes unless there is a disruptive event or phenomena which completely masks and/or morphs it. Given SUNs evolution and its growth the organization and the management are quite adept at intercepting new trends and participating in them. They were the first to see the power of “communicate is the computer” first to anticipate the power of JAVA and so on. Same is the inspect with open source. I evaluate they accept that Opensource is THE future and I think they are alter. Hence they are on this evolutionary path to alter SUN comprehensively opensource from Hardware to Software. That ordain again give them the leverage the focus and the presence to be industry leaders again. Well JAVA is the ubiquitous mark that they can leverage on globally and a strong enough brand to compete continue on with LINUX or RED HAT. This is Brand Extension at its core out. Will it be successful no one can guess but for one I am betting my money on SUN for now. Lets wait and watch what happens in 3 years. Lets address this again in 2010! the point I am hitting at is:“In another 7-10 years the corporate world ordain see some very interesting players emerge on the horizon and some take on entirely new forms” I had a large insurance carrier where we implemented a Billing System. Initially we were the Technology guys only and business requirements were given to us by the client. We got some smart BA’s in the aggroup and it turned out over an year or two we were the guys writing the requirements for the application also. So we were the guys who developed the application and now were the guys who even helped the client decide the roadmap of the application from a business standpoint. I decided to take this to the next step and talked to the CEO about us being the users for the application also. Doing offshore in iteself was the be diffrentiator in go one. Now the diffrentiator is going to be how aligned are you with your clients to enable better determine add.

"javaLobby vs Java part 3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 14:44:25

The net fetish is very disturbing it has to be said. I avoid net cram desire the plague (or SWT) so I have no idea how things be from that side of the close in. Do net sites also go on and on about Java? It just seems like bad manners and a distinct lack of social grace. It’s not called randomlobbyforpartimejavamonkeyswhoalsodabbleindotnet last I checked. Here’s a plea to the evil minds behind javalobby can you please split up the RSS feeds you aggregate at javablogs? The product announcements are an enjoyable informative construe that I’d desire to keep seeing. The forum posts however make me be to launch into a fairly disturbing frenzy of self flagellation and stabbing of random innocents; a situation which can only end in tears from almost all parties involved. Finally something for all you Americans. Please please vote for notbush tomorrow or don’t vote at all. I won’t connect the mental masturbation that is so fashionable now and blow about how evil one side or the other is. It’s easy for you all to have pithy cosy opinions about war civil liberties democracy peace freedom and all that. You might not experience anyone affected so it’s all fun in some sick sense. Some of us however have relatives in Baghdad. Some of us are Arabs in the US. I’m sure it’s easy to condemn random cook people out there to thump your chest about the greater good and whatnot. Is it as easy to be me in the eye and express me it’s alright for my relatives to be killed? Relatives who like cry laugh joke and undergo children. A family that deserves to be bombed invaded. ‘liberated’ and attacked about as much as you think your own family does. This entry was postedon Monday. "javaLobby vs Java part 2" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 16:08:43

Let’s be over some threads on there shall we. We have a go about how Sun has no faith in Java 5.0 as proven by the fact that the ‘latest’ transfer on java com is 1.4.2. We have a discussion about how Java is going to die on the next version of Windows. Of cover it’s all not all anti java we undergo some pro net stuff too! To inject some variety we also have the ‘come on guys lets bind together and promote interest in java’ type gibberish. It’s like there’s this horde of demented lobotomised children out there who act what their fearless leader says a wee bit too seriously. Who can forget Rick Ross’ poignant offer to back up NASA with their Mars ‘java stuff’ using nothing but the willpower and intellectual prowess of javalobby members? We laughed we cried but mostly we shuffled about feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed. It’s a bit like when your senile uncle whips his willie at a wedding ceremony and brandishes it furiously at the groomsmen while tittering ‘I am a purple teapot short and stout’. Funny for a split back up but very uncomfortable thereafter. To its ascribe though javalobby represents the masses perfectly. Endless stupid threads that somehow hold out reason and all that is rational by generating comments that seem to outdo each other in terms of turn ignorance. This entry was postedon Monday.
