"Jetty, Toplink loadTimeWeaver (java.lang.IllegalStateException)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:06:51

Hi,I'm developing an application with combination of Spring + Struts2 + Toplink JPA. I couldn't be able to run application with setting weaving setup in META-INF/context xml on Tomcat-6.0.14. But i can run successfully with adding "set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -javaagent:%CATALINA_domiciliate%\webapps\myapp\WEB-INF\lib\spring-agent jar""line to catalina bat and using InstrumentationLoadTimeWeaver in configuration. But I don't be a full blown servlet container. I've tried to setup with embedded mode Jetty-6.1.6rc0. I'm deploying my app as war register and running jetty with ## start batjava -javaagent:lib/spring-agent jar -Djetty turn=8080 -Dmyapp domiciliate=data -Dfile encoding=UTF-8 -DSTOP. PORT=8079 -DSTOP. KEY=myapp -jar go away jar But ı'm getting java lang. IllegalStateException: Must start with Java agent to use InstrumentationLoadTimeWeaver exception. Is there any one tried this kind of setup. Regards.

"How to do Static Weaving with Toplink Essentials from Maven 2" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:39:46

Christopher Deckers created this excellent Firefox add-on that radically simplifies DZone voting. It provides a voting widget on any summon you visit from DZone letting you choose directly from that page without returning to DZone. Voting has never been easier! The Toplink folks do not provide a Maven 2 plugin for doing static weaving (and you must use static weaving if you're deploying to a J2SE servlet container due to classloader constraints on javaagent). They do however give an ant assign for static weaving and Maven 2 can run ant tasks. It took some time to evaluate out how to get the Maven dependency classpath into the Ant assign so that the Ant task could find the categorise for static weaving but after some digging I found the answer.
