"Google Java and Sun Java need to talk" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:15:23

At the Sun Microsystems press conference at Oracle OpenWorld. I was able to ask Jonathan Schwartz and Rich Green whether developers are going to be confused by having Google do its own thing with Java outside the umbrella of Sun's Java Community Process. Rich's answer essentially was that Sun was talking to Google and that the two companies were very close to having some understanding about Java that would keep things simple. But until the two companies work things out it's good news for Windows Mobile which certainly would make hay out of having a big fork in widespread adoption of the Java development platform on handsets between Sun's Java and Google's Android. If Microsoft ever truly opened up and modernized Windows Mobile. Java might be in trouble. Microsoft's lack of effort here is Java's saving grace. "Clear messageGroup" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 14:59:48

Can anyone express me how to alter a messageGroup??I have a listbox and a button. If you move the add without selecting an item from the listbox first I show an error. However if you move the button with nothing selected and get the error displayed then select an item and click the add a java applet is launched. The problem is that you change state the applet or just go back to the main summon and the error message is still displayed. So I guess I either need to clear the messageGroup or I need to call back the page after the applet is launched. Any suggestions for me?Thanks,Matthew Unless otherwise licensed code in all technical manuals herein (including articles. FAQs samples) is provided under this.

What is the advantage of using db2bak pl vs db2bak?What is the favor of using db2ldif pl vs db2ldif?I experience that pl put a assign under cn=config,cn=tasks and that disappears after some time. We are designing a backup strategy and any inputs would help. Unless otherwise licensed label in all technical manuals herein (including articles. FAQs samples) is provided under this.

"restore with dsconf import in a multimaster enviroment" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 15:26:31

Hallo,ENV : Solaris 10 ds 6.2 two servers (multi master)I backup my directory data every night with dsconf..... Today I restored from last nights backup with dsconf merchandise.... Backup and Restore works without any issues. But as I'm in a multimaster environment I got all the changes I made since last night. This might in some situation be desirable (e g alter db). But assume you deleted a whole directory tree per accident and now you want to go approve to the data of measure night. I do a restore to the primary then it replicates the data to the back up primary. As soon the date arrives there this servers looks up his change log db deletes my tree again and replicates it back.. how can I prevent that or what is the correct way of doing such a regenerate. Can you purge the whole change log on a second master or move of it (eg my remove tree operation)cheers If you want to go back to previous data (backup) and ignore all of the changes that could have been applied after the backup in a multi-master topology you have to restore the backup on all servers (including read-only replica). You can achieve this with the binary copy provided you have identical settings for all servers (analyse the Administration guide for the binary copy restrictions). Or you could alter the replication agreements between your 2 master while restoring the data. Once the data is on the primary alter the replication agreement on primary and re-init the secondary. When finished you can enable replication from secondary to primary. Ludovic.
