"SCEA Preps ?Largest Ever? Hardware Campaign" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:20:57

Speaking on SCEA’s. Peter Dille the company’s vice president of marketing said a new PS3 advertising campaign is set to break this weekend to coincide with the introduction of the new 40GB PS3. Where as last year’s PS3 launch campaign focused on the brute power of the system the new campaign will focus more on the console’s entertainment capabilities. Dille said. “With those technology messages now firmly embedded we wanted to move beyond the power message with a more high-energy entertainment driven focus for the PS3. The games are here the price point is now $399 and we wanted to make the news loud and clear. “And so beyond the brilliant HD games that the PS3 delivers you’ll also see a big focus behind the PS3’s Blu-ray movie capability and for the first time you’ll see a major focus behind the PlayStation Network and the exclusive gaming content available on the PlayStation Store as well as breakthrough services like Home." A series of 60 second TV spots will feature major first part titles including Heavenly Sword. Warhawk. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Grand Turismo 5 Prologue. The ads will also push third party exclusives such as Haze and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots which Dille describes as “the mother of all exclusives.” “We have the 40GB PS3 officially launching tomorrow at a price point that will appeal to a wider audience and the 80GB PS3 which is demonstrating phenomenal sales growth since we announced the $499 price point. Add to that the inflow of great games and a PS3 brand campaign — our largest ever behind a hardware platform — and we think it’s going to be a great holiday season for PS3.”

"SCEA prepares 40GB advertising blitz" posted by ~Ray

Sony will also be pushing upcoming third celebrate titles such as Ubisoft pair Haze and Assassin’s Creed as come up as EA’s Burnout Paradise and Konami’s coat Gear Solid 4. "Behind the brilliant games"-"As well as breakthrough services like home"...... Where are they then? Sony be to change state the merchandise leader in the games industry they've gotta do more than drop the price and announce... don't get me do by its a good move but not good enough. Improve the online gaming function channel GOOD games release exclusive games and release HOME would be a better move! I've had my PS3 for 7 months now and comfort got to say I rarely play on it... thank god for my 360! In my opinion the PS3's performance between now and Q1 09 will make or end he system. Yes. Sony undergo a lot of games (some good ones too) due between now and then and they are finally starting to advertise the console properly but if The PS3 fails to obtain a bigger foothold worldwide then Sony may have to consider pulling the close. which is a great compel as I like the PS3 to the other new systems. "SCEA responds to poor September NPD figures" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:03:42

September wasn't a very good month for Sony especially its PS3 show that the system came in dead last selling 119,400 units. This is less than the PS2 (215,000) the Wii (501,000) and the Xbox 360 (527,800). Granted. Xbox 360's sales were boosted quite significantly due to the launch of the blockbuster with sales of the game reaching a staggering 3.3 million in its first month. in comparison only sold 139,000 units its first month. SCEA responds: "According to NPD data. September 2007 was a strong month for the PlayStation brand which showed a 13% increase in be sell dollars generated year-over-year in the US with total sales of $337 million for the month."Sony will have to be towards the future and hope its recent determine cut announcement will act it afloat. "PS3 continues to maintain an overall increase in sales with 119K units sold at retail for the month. Also with the new $399 40GB PlayStation 3 SKU hitting hold on shelves on November 2nd a new $499 price point for the 80GB copy effective immediately and highly anticipated titles available this holiday such as Microsoft makes their money through software sales (as does Sony). Their software attach evaluate is way beyond the wii and as such they are doing just fine and dandy. Why ya gotta go around all news about other companies negatively? Heya fellas. Been a while since I posted here. Anywho I undergo a small mouth expose with me... I think that if the 360 does not lower the price of the Elite (maybe change surface the premium) to $300 or less by early next year (march) Microsoft will be in for a world of hurting. In the overall conceive of of a 4-5 year generation console war current sales dont mean sit. Next years sales numbers will trump this years and so forth and so forth. There is no longer a huge price difference in the systems in fact the 40gig PS3 is actually cheaper than the elite. Let me paint a picture for you:go out: March 28. 2008. Customer walks into his local gamestop. Gamestop Employee: Hello sir how can I back up you?Customer: Hi im looking to choose up a new gaming system but cant make up my object between the 360 and PS3. Gamestop Employee: come up what types of games do you like?Customer: come up I play anything that is fun. I have a PS2 and undergo been playing that for the past few years. GS Employee: come up the 360 Elite is $400 and the PS3 40 gig is $400. Customer: Well they are the same determine so what games do each one undergo?GS Employee: Well the 360 has some great games Like Gears of War and Halo 3. Customer: Yea I heard Gears was good but its like 2 years old now. Halo is cool though. Hmm what does the PS3 undergo?GS Employee: come up Metal accommodate Solid 4 just came out. Oh yeah and so did Gran turismo and FF is coming out soon. Customer: coat GEAR!!! I love that series. Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy too. I have been playing those games on my PS2 and sure loved them. GS Employee: Well ratchet and go came out a few months ago also and Socom just came out too. Customer: Wow I know all of those franchises and love them. But for $400 I hope these systems do other things than just play videogames. Employee: come up they both undergo pretty cool media functions but the PS3 can also compete Blu ray movies. Customer: The PS3 plays Blu Ray movies AND ITS THE SAME PRICE!!! My friend just got a High Def Tv and its pretty sweet. I see prices on the tv's are going down and I was thinking about getting one too. You know what I think i'll act one of those PS3's thanks for the help. Microsoft exceed get that price down. TheSh0wstopper I figured with Halo 3 it wouldn't be a good month for the PS3. But I am shocked at the sales of Heavenly Sword. I thought for sure it would get 500K in it's first month. What day did it go out again? So umm yeah. Did anyone actually expect them to do decently Halo 3 month? Especially with 40gb rumors flying around? Not trying to soften the truth or anything but I think this is just one of those inevitably bad months. They can spin it all they be and I won't care. They did the right thing by spreading their blockbusters out a little but the timing of the releases just plain sucked.40gb is a good sign that they're at least stepping up to the plate and taking the problems with PS3 seriously but they're going to be to get a few runs(and not in their pants) to catch up with Wii and 360 as far as unit sales are concerned. Their PS3 lay locate calculate by March 08 is ridiculous IMO. 12 million was it? I'll estimate 8 million at most. @ AG23No cerebrate to be shocked.1 not that many PS3's out there2. Playstation owner's dont buy games like Xbox owners do. Look at PS2 game sales. While it does have a lot of million salers its actually quite pathetic compared to the installed locate of the system. For example FF12 sales numbers are very similar to Gears of Wars #'s. Im not even sure if God of War 2 broke a million (and if it did prolly barely)TheSh0wstopper"Good to be back" TheSh0wstopper dream on. It's funny how I've heard similar scenarios several months ago when people were talking about the upcoming Lair. Warhawk. Heavenly Sword and Folklore. Well those games are out and still just a meager 119,000 units sold. Wow that is horrible. And for those questioning the fact that Halo 3 "only increased sales that much..." Come on a $400 system nearly 2 years old moves over 500,000 units in a month. That is an unbelievable feat that Sony can only conceive of will come about to them. Even coat Gear does not have the overall general appeal that a bet like Halo 3 has. It's been nearly a year now. I'm still waiting for something to come about on the PS3 front. Maybe just maybe this $399 system will help but I doubt you'll see anything come a 500,000 unit month this upcoming pass. God ordain sony fanboys approach the facts that your systems is a lost create?...... Stop deflecting the fact that ps3 is ass by trying to inform 360 sales..... Do yourself a advance sell your ps3 to some sucker and get a 360 you'll feel alot better and won't be so change taste...... Or keep living in denial and go by sony accounts one of those spiffy new last gen ps3 joysticks with go and STFU! @ Matt. The system was $600 when those games came out. My main inform was the Microsoft needs to get that price down. A PS3 for $400 is a MUCH beter determine than a 360 for $400. And what idiot would put games like Lair. Folklore and Heavenly sword in the same tier as MGS. FF13 and Gran Turismo? Oh you did figures. TheSh0wstopper Ok so they sold 159,000 PS3s in July. Great month! They sold 139,000 PS3s in August. Ok month! Then they sold 119,000 PS3s in September. Then they came up with this ingeminate:"PS3 continues to keep an overall increase in sales."Now that is an impressive spin. I'm not sure that October will be much better considering that the $399 version is coming in November. :( clavian - "tired"?????!???!!Man i got together with 4 former college buddies (Me and another guy in town one in Boston one in Houston and one in Dallas) measure night and had an awesome 3+ hours of gaming with Halo3. I can understand if you might not have a game where you can party up and play together for that desire but it goes a LONG way to making Halo3 not "tired" desire you said. I love both consoles but in doing so you undergo to give the positives for each and Halo3 is a definite POSITIVE for the 360. It's all about games! I undergo all three systems and my PS3 has the weakest collection of games. They seriously be a boost in games. These dumb ass developers always decelerate games for the PS3 and.

"SCEA Adds Strahan To PSP Campaign" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 15:35:09

"Dude get your own." Most of you know this as the PSP ad campaign you always see on TV. come up. SCEA thinks it needs just a little extra star power and they've announced their bringing on New York Giants great Michael Strahan to back up. The sack master ordain accompany that "annoying guy" who's always popping up in the commercials and help to push the new PSP Slim. "Using Michael Strahan in the call spot helps us convey the message that PSP is one of the most aspirational entertainment devices out there," said Peter Dille senior vice president marketing and PlayStation Network. SCEA. "We experience that celebrities and athletes are on the road a lot and travel with their PSPs. Michael and a number of his teammates are big fans of PSP so it was a natural tie-in to include him in the campaign." We have difficulty understanding how a professional athlete helps to sell an electronic handheld gaming device but hey a name's a name. Besides it seems clear that Strahan actually enjoys playing the PSP and is happily helping out 'cuz he likes the little thing. "I love playing my PSP and getting to bring home the bacon with these guys for the advertising campaign has been a lot of fun," said Strahan. "With my busy jaunt schedule during the season the new PSP is a perfect companion for long road trips and allows me to play against my teammates in online matches when we are together or even across the country." Now that makes comprehend; we should've thought of that. Anybody who's on the road a lot will make friends with the PSP right? Anyway this new TV spot is scheduled to hit just in time for Christmas and act on into January. You'll see it all over the displace as you might evaluate and that includes the likes of FOX. CBS. NBC. ESPN. ESPN2 Comedy Central. MTV. USA and Spike TV. Strahan's a charismatic individual and if he likes playin' than we support SCEA's decision 100%. Go Big Blue!
